What we do
MamaPut is a marketplace that connects people who cook Nigerian food ("sellers") with people who want to buy it ("buyers"). Sellers prepare, package and deliver their own food. MamaPut is not a restaurant, does not prepare, handle, inspect or deliver food, and is not a party to the sale between a buyer and a seller.
Payments and fees
Buyers pay through Stripe when they place an order. The seller receives the order total minus Stripe's card processing fee and a 5% platform fee. Sellers are paid after the order is marked delivered.
Cancellations and refunds
Buyers can cancel an order until the seller accepts it. Stripe does not return its card processing fee when a payment is refunded, so a cancelled order is refunded in full minus that fee. The app shows the exact amount before you confirm. If a seller declines an order, the buyer is refunded in full and the card processing fee is charged to the seller, taken from their next payout. Problems with a delivered order can be reported to support.
Food safety and seller responsibility
Sellers are solely responsible for the food they sell, including its preparation, storage, packaging, delivery, quality and safety. Sellers must hold any permits, licences or inspections required where they cook and sell, follow all applicable food safety laws, and describe ingredients and allergens accurately and completely. Sellers agree to indemnify MamaPut against claims, losses and costs arising from their food or from breaking these rules. Buyers should contact the seller about ingredients and allergens before ordering if they have any doubt.
Photos
Photos must show the food a buyer will actually receive. Sellers can create a photo with AI; those photos are labelled "AI image" for buyers. AI enhancement of a real photo may improve lighting and background but must not change the food.
Staying on the platform
To keep everyone safe, sharing phone numbers, emails or outside messaging links in chat is not allowed and such messages are blocked. Use in-app chat and masked calling.
Reviews
Buyers can rate their food after delivery. Reviews must be honest and about the food and service.
